INTERCITY · DATE AND AVAILABILITY HARD GATE

Check the holiday date before normal transport assumptions.

Official holiday dates are source-owned. A wider travel-pressure window is a KTN planning judgment, and neither proves ticket availability.

This page is not a holiday culture guide. It decides whether the selected intercity date requires a current special-sale or availability check before transport comparison.

Check date, sale regime and inventory

The official calendar owns holiday dates; each operator owns its sale conditions and inventory. KTN keeps adjacent pressure risk separate.

Decision ownership

Run three checks before buying transport

Use the exact travel date, not a generic belief that all holiday travel is sold out.

  1. Exact outbound and return dates
  2. Overlap with official Seollal or Chuseok dates
  3. Adjacent-day travel-pressure risk as a planning judgment
  4. Current operator notice covering the selected operating date
  5. Current sale channel, membership and payment conditions
  6. Selected train, bus or flight inventory after the correct regime is identified

A date-specific special sale overrides normal booking assumptions

For 2026, official Seollal holidays were February 16–18 and official Chuseok holidays are September 24–26. KORAIL's current Chuseok notice covers trains operating September 23–27 and general reservation September 7–11.

The notice does not promise remaining seats, does not define every bus or airline rule, and must not be reused as an evergreen annual booking window.

Selected Date Inventory
No Availability GuaranteeA booking channel or special-sale notice does not prove that the selected train, bus or flight has inventory, and no universal sell-out is claimed.
