JEJU · MODE SELECTION BEFORE PROVIDER
Choose the Jeju transport mix that makes your itinerary work.
A rental car is useful for some Jeju trips, but it is not the entry ticket to the island. Start with legal eligibility, stop pattern, timing, luggage and driving burden.
This page owns the first decision only: self-drive, a driver or charter, point-to-point taxi, public transport, or a deliberate mix. It does not choose a rental company, prove a late handover, certify a provider or decide Udo vehicle access.
Decision ownership
What does the itinerary demand from the transport chain?
Map each accommodation, fixed-time stop and airport or ferry commitment. Then decide whether you need all-day flexibility, a reserved vehicle, occasional point-to-point rides, scheduled buses or different modes on different days.
Hard gate
Self-drive remains unavailable until both legal and provider gates pass
A qualifying original permit under Korean law and the exact rental provider's age, experience, document, card and vehicle rules are separate. Airport arrival is also not vehicle handover: Jeju Airport directs renters through provider shuttles to the rental-car area.
Mode comparison
Compare complete travel days, not mode labels
Use one main mode only when it fits every critical leg. A mixed plan can be stronger—for example, buses around a compact base and a reserved vehicle for one dispersed day.
Verified official paths
Continue only on the matching official path
Evidence and freshness
Current capability, with each owner kept in scope
Law owns legal driving authority; a rental provider owns its acceptance terms; the airport owns its shuttle flow; the bus system owns live route information. KTN owns only the mode-fit judgment built from those layers.

Routes, timetables, disruptions, rental inventory, provider rules, taxi availability, language, prices and hours can change. This page leaves every selected-date transaction unknown until checked with its owner.
Owned next decision
Resolve the legal rental branch with its canonical owner
Self-drive is still a candidate but legal or provider eligibility is not yet proved
Use the separate P4 decision before comparing rental companies, vehicles or prices. P2, P3 and P5 remain separate decisions for rental-versus-driver fit, late handover and Udo vehicle access.
Execution boundary: P1 selects a mode mix only. It does not publish a seller recommendation, selected-date availability, late-arrival handover result, Udo permission or a commercial booking path.
