The answer may be your existing foreign card plus a basic transit card. No single product should be assumed to cover every merchant, route, reload and refund.

Start with functions, not product names
A tourist product can be useful, but only after it solves a gap left by the cards and transit coverage already available to you.

- Number of transit days, likely rides and exact lines or buses
- Whether an existing foreign card works for ordinary purchases and online checkout
- Need for a local prepaid fallback, currency exchange or budget separation
- Cash available for standard transit-card purchase or top-up
- Phone, wallet and app compatibility only when choosing a mobile product
- Child or youth fare setup for each traveler where relevant

The September transition changed the 30-day product, not the tourist short-term decision
30-day prepaid Climate Card recharge ended on August 31, 2026. The Climate Pass is resident-scoped; it began on September 1 under Seoul's separate residence and registration rules. Tourist short-term Climate Card passes continue, so visitors should compare those passes—not assume the resident product replaced them.
A card name or logo does not prove that the exact machine, merchant, route, device or selected travel date supports the required function.
